DIANNE MARONEY: Author, Speaker and Founder of The Imagine Project, Inc.
Growing up in a complicated family plagued with suicide, alcoholism and very little money knocked me down many times, but it also taught me how to stand tall! My challenging, sometimes horrific life circumstances gave me the opportunity to realize and define what it takes to overcome obstacles and move forward in life. Then a few years ago I set out to meet other ordinary people who had also overcome extreme life circumstances and found that there are truly amazing people everywhere. I created a multi-award winning book about them and The Imagine Project, Inc. was born.
I have now expanded my work to serve kids and teens across the world. As a 501c3 nonprofit entity we give kids and teens the ability to overcome complicated life circumstances and realize they have power over their story. The nonprofit is based in the idea that we will use outside resources/funds to bring The Imagine Project, Inc. into schools and other youth organizations at low or no expense to the school or child. Every child will be given an Imagine Journal to keep. Through a 7-step interactive process they are given the opportunity to write their own story. The project is blossoming quickly and the stories of our children are incredible. The Mission of The Imagine Project is to give kids a voice to bring positive change into their lives, and those of future generations—one girl, one boy, one school at a time.
